The Clifton Lido was granted FULL PLANNING PERMISSION on the 2nd August 2006 for the "Restoration of outdoor pool and associated buildings to provide mixed use development comprising subscription pool and associated spa facilities (with sauna, steam and treatment rooms, sun bathing, etc) and restaurant and poolside bar/lounge".

Development of all the above is well underway to quality specifications whilst incorporating enviromental considerations, such as the many solar panels and ambiant waste heat pumps. These will provide the majority of the energy needed to heat the pool year round and along with city center location that will encourage walking and cycling to and from the site, green credentials are incumbent. Such forethought has already been reconised by national organisation, The Low Carbon Trust.
The Bristol Open Doors day on the 8th September 2007 saw 4000 visitors inspecting progress made at the Lido.  Local photographer Cliff Edge took a series of pictures showing many exterior as well as interior views providing a good insight into how the extensive works are progressing.
